The reveal of the Second Death Star’s description

"Now witness the firepower of this fully armed and operational battle station."
— Emperor Palpatine, to Luke Skywalker, on the second Death Star

The DS-2 Death Star II Mobile Battle Station, codenamed Second Sun, also known as the Death Star MK. 2, the Death Star Mark 2, or simply the second Death Star was the second Death Star battlestation to be constructed by the Axis of Empires nearing the end of the First Multiverse War. It was much larger than its predecessor, measuring close to almost a planet and was built throughout the centuries since the destruction of the first Death Star at the Battle of Yavin. Emperor Palpatine insisted on the reconstruction of the battlestation, as it was an integral part in his plan to destroy the New Galactic Republic as well as the Alliance of Nations (eventually all of the Galactic Empire's enemies once the Wars of the Axis began), leaving the Skyriver Galaxy in the hands of the Empire and victory of the Civil War.

The Death Star's superlaser was revealed to be operational before the construction of the station was completed, surprising the Alliance forces during the Great Battle of Endor. This was Emperor Palpatine's plan all along, and it nearly led to the loss of the Alliance forces in the Endor system if it wasn't for Alliance ground forces on several of Endor's moons managed to deactivate the energy shield surrounding the portals that lead to the battle station's hidden location, and the Allied fleet proceeded to destroy the station from within, signifying the beginning of the downfall of the Galactic Empire and the potential fracture of most of the Axis states (excluding the Combine).

Construction[]

With the destruction of the first Death Star at the Battle of Yavin at the hands of Luke Skywalker, the Galactic Empire was left in a vertiginous state as the Imperial Military reeled at such a sizable loss of its martial forces. With the dissolution of the Imperial Senate and increasing pirate and rebel attacks, the Emperor immediately began construction on a new and improved battle station, one more powerful and without the fatal flaw of its predecessor.

The idea for the second Death Star's development originated as one of two possible scenarios by Bevel Lemelisk and the Imperial Department of Military Research for further development of the Death Star's development, shortly after the completion of the first Death Star. However, much as Palpatine was very eager to begin the construction, he ordered the plans to be on hold temporarily with the Rebellion escalated with the support of the Galactic Republic and the Alliance and the extra-galactic threats such as the Yuuzhan Vong no longer to fear. Yet in decades time with new resources and design of the plans, he shared this project with the leaders of the Axis as a long game to construct a planet-sized battle station with the Combine Emperor's support to destroy the capital worlds of all their enemies. However, despite its main purpose as a terror weapon for use against star systems, Emperor Palpatine also planned another use for the weapon: upon completion of the battle station's superlaser, the Emperor intended to leak the location of the apparently incomplete and inoperable second Death Star to the Rebel Alliance, luring their forces into a devastating final battle. After crushing the Rebellion, the Emperor planned to send invasion fleets larger than any seen in centuries to blockade the rebellious and Alliance worlds of Mon Cala, and Chandrila, the capital worlds such as the Filo Galactic Republic, Human-Vortigaunt Federation, United Federation of Planets, Second Human Empire and the Klingon Empire until the Death Star II's completion. The Emperor hoped the destruction of these rebel-sympathetic worlds would effectively end any hope the Skydiver Galaxy might have had of defeating the Empire and its tyrannical regime, even considered using it's weapon against his rivals such as the Xilo Galactic Republic with no intention of allying with them for long in the Axis.

Proving to be a long and hard task as the First Death Star took twenty one standard years to build, finding a suitable location to build an even larger scale with improvements and test runs in the centuries and outside known territories from the Alliance, Horde, or any enemy factions' awareness. Slowly gathering resources from the occupied worlds in a few realities and move it to another with an installed dimensional drive system when it was originally being constructed in the Lo'opik Universe with the support of the Gallente Federation whilst under the control of the Goa'uld in 1503 NE. The Confederate States after it became an interstellar power in the Sol Universe was forced to supply the Empire slave workers to build this station and resources for a few years.

Methods of faster and smoother construction had been developed in the years since the original station's conception, added to the fact that Imperial engineers made sure to allocate enough space on the station for the maximum possible amount of self-replicating construction droids.

Great Battle of Endor[]

"It's a trap!"
— Admiral Ackbar during the Great Battle of Endor

Soon after learning of the secret location of the unfinished second Death Star, the Alliance met secretly at Sullust and formed battle plans for their assault on the station above the forest moon of Endor. There, the orbiting Death Star was protected from any external attacks by a surrounding energy shield projected from the moon's surface. It would have to be disabled before any forces could engage the battlestation itself.

Led by the teams under General Han Solo, Chewbacca, Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker, the droids C-3PO and R2-D2, and numerous other Republic commandos including Rex and Kanan Jarrus, was dispatched down to the surface of the forest moon of Endor, with the goal of disabling the energy shield and opening the portal to the Death Star's location. The Republic fleet, led by General Lando Calrissian piloting the Millennium Falcon, would then arrive to destroy the main reactor of the Death Star from the inside: the Alliance fleet would provide a distraction of sorts, engaging the Axis fleet, while the Falcon and a small detachment of fighters would fly directly into the station's core and destroy the main hypermatter reactor core.

The Alliance's high ranked officers Gial Ackbar, Jonathan J. O'Neill, William Adama, Jean-Luc Picard, and Martok to take command of their respective forces to converge on the attack from all directions to take the Axis by surprise. The rest would follow on the preparation of the Combine fleet as the Imperium will provide the heavy firepower against their advance dreadnoughts and to cause damage to the Death Star's barrier.
