Shepherd Derrial Book (born Nom Blissex) was an passenger aboard Serenity, and a friend and spiritual teacher to its crew and Imperial informer. Before his time aboard the ship, he led a life marked by violence and conflict, both inside and out, which remained a secret from the crew. Later in the later half of the First War. Kate Archer finds out that Derrial Book is a informer for the Galactic Empire under Piett and Needa's commands and he was killed by Allison Jakes after he was spotted in the Great Battle of Endor.

Unbeknownst to the crew of Serenity, Derrial Book is an informer for the Galactic Empire. He indicated that he serving Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader.[1] In truth, Derrial was not even the shepherd, but an informant.
