The Galka are a species of large humanoids with a vaguely ursine appearance, but known for being a deeply spiritual people with customs and beliefs that seem complex in nature, being far more content with their own inner natures than the outside world. But the species have long joined the United Commonwealths of Worlds regardless and often nodded for their ferocity in battle.

In the creation of Vana'diel, the gods' children and ancients tried to gain access to Paradise. The gatekeeper rejected these children and obliterated their entire civilization. The goddess, Altana, having awaken from her sleep. Her tears caused five race to be born the: Galka, Humans, Mithra and Tarutaru. The twilight god then struck a curse on these races after seeing what Altana did. This brought out these races darkest emotions. The Galka received rage as their curse.
